WE NEED YOU!!

Maker Faire Adelaide has grown to the largest event of its kind in Australia. It is organised by a passionate team of volunteers and we need some new volunteers to join the Organising Team.

Members of the Organising Team work together to plan all aspects of the Faire and then deliver the Maker Faire. You commitment will vary but there will be regular meetings (monthly becoming fortnightly closer to the Faire) and there will be work to do outside of meetings.

We are recruiting 3 roles: Volunteer Coordinator, Marketing and Comms and Graphic Designer see below for details of each position

We will be recruiting other volunteers closer to the Maker Faire.

Volunteer Coordinator (may be 2 people)

  • Liaise with Maker Faire Team to identify volunteer role.
  • Work with the Maker Faire Team to recruit other volunteers.
  • Prepare Volunteer Role Descriptions.
  • Interview potential volunteer candidates – if required.
  • Review and update Maker Faire Volunteer Handbook.
  • Co-ordinate and deliver face to face volunteer orientation session (on and off site).
  • Co-ordinate the rostering of all volunteer shifts for bump in, on the day and bump out.
  • Be the main point of contact on the day for all issues relating to Volunteer Management.
  • Support all volunteers to have a positive experience at Maker Faire Adelaide.
  • Need to have own computer and be prepared to work remotely from home with limited resources.
  • Have attention to detail and the ability to check own work.
  • Able to work as part of a team.
  • Have ability to work to deadlines and strong time management skills.
  • Maintain electronic filing of work.

Marketing and Comms Team (at least 2 people)

  • Manage all aspects of comms/marketing and PR.
  • Develop and implement Marketing and Comms Plan – including email (using Mailchimp), social media (Facebook, Twitter and Instagram), online advertising (via social media) and prepare and coordinate distribution of media releases.
  • 
Liaise with Sponsorship Coordinator to ensure all sponsors appropriately acknowledged.
  • Liaise with the website coordinator to keep the Maker Faire website content up to date – this may include preparation and editing of online content.
  • Work with Volunteer Coordinator to roster and manage the on the day Comms Team volunteers.
  • Need to have own computer and be prepared to work remotely from home with limited resources.
  • Have attention to detail and the ability to check own work.
  • Able to work as part of a team.
  • Have ability to work to deadlines and strong time management skills.
  • Maintain electronic filing of work.

Graphic Designer

  • Support the lead designer to maintain and develop the Maker Faire Adelaide Brand in accordance with brand guidelines.
  • Provide ad-hoc graphic design assistance to the team when required.
  • Work with the Marketing Team to review and update existing print/online materials and develop new promotional materials.
  • Knowledge of design for print and creating artwork for social media and WordPress websites
  • Be proficient in Adobe Creative Suite (including InDesign, Photoshop and Illustrator)
  • Need to have own laptop with software and be prepared to work remotely from home with limited resources
  • Have attention to detail and the ability to check own work
  • Be open to feedback
  • Have ability to work to deadlines and strong time management skills.
  • Maintain electronic filing of work
